Seymour “Sy” Kravitz was an American television news producer, filmmaker and former U.S. Army serviceman. He worked for NBC and was the father of musician Lenny Kravitz.
Kravitz first married Erika, with whom he had daughters Laurie and Tedi. After that marriage ended, he married actress Roxie Roker in 1962. Their son Lenny was born in 1964, and Sy and Roker divorced in 1985.
His daughters were from his first marriage, rather than a later remarriage after Roker.
Lenny has spoken openly about the difficult periods in their relationship and their reconciliation before Sy’s death from leukemia in 2005.
